The Pathway
The Made Whole journey
Four stages describing how a person moves from first contact with MedWHOLE to leading others in their own community.
Understanding the framework
What the journey is
The journey is not a programme cycle and nobody moves through it on a schedule. Some people arrive at a medical outreach and go no further, and that is a good outcome — they were unwell, and now they are not.
For those who continue, the four stages describe what changes and in what order. We named them so we could tell whether the work was doing what we intended.
Engagement
First contact, through one of the three pillars: a free clinic in a village without one, a holiday class when school is out, a skills course for someone who has run out of options.
The need is real and is treated as real. Nothing at this stage is conditional on anything else.

Discipleship
The forming of the person alongside the skill — character, values, knowledge and responsibility, taught deliberately and repeatedly over time.
It looks ordinary in practice. In our skills programme it is thirty minutes at the start of every session. In Summer School it is a memory verse each morning alongside the mathematics. In the Good News Club it is five years of turning up every week. It is the slowest stage, and the one that determines whether the others hold.

Deployment
Applying what has been received: serving, leading and contributing within the community.
The volunteers who staffed the service units at our Kunyami outreach on 14 February became the first cohort of ComPart. Twelve of them completed the programme in June, trained in media, print and public health. They arrived as people being helped, and left as people able to help.

Support
Mentorship, access to resources, and someone still answering the phone once the programme has ended.
Seven surgical referrals from the February outreach were tracked through to seven completed operations and seven recoveries. That tracking is the support stage doing its work.

The Outcome
Becoming a light
The purpose of all four stages is a person whose influence is rooted in integrity and whose leadership is expressed through service. We do not set out to create dependence. We set out to release people into purpose.
“They came as helpers in February. They are now being equipped as leaders.”
