Summer School
Free holiday lessons every August in Gosa and Kunyami, running since 2021.
Overview
What it is
Summer School runs Monday to Thursday, from nine until noon, through the whole of August. Every morning covers mathematics, English and reading, together with a memory verse.
From the second week the Skill Lab opens, teaching bead making, soap making, stool making and tote bags, so that children leave having made something as well as learned something.
The final week is given over to examinations, a memory verse competition, career and health talks, and a closing party.
Eligibility & Reach
Who it is for
Free, and open to every child in the community.
Children and teenagers from Primary 1 through Senior Secondary 3. There is no entrance test, no uniform and no fee.
More than four in ten students are of secondary-school age, and on most mornings the largest single class is JSS 1 and 2.

Where and when
- Gosa — Monday to Thursday, 9am to 12 noon. Good News Club follows on Saturdays at 3pm.
- Kunyami — Monday to Thursday, 9am to 12 noon. Good News Club follows on Fridays at 4pm.

Deworming
Our Health team provides deworming to Summer School children. Written consent is obtained from every parent in advance, and a parent's refusal is recorded and respected.
